In this scene I feel that the soft colors of this sunrise complement the earth tones don't you?

This famous cypress grove lies along the road between Siena and San Quirico but I climbed up into the surrounding hills early in the morning to obtain this view.

This photograph is a prime example of the ever changing light in Tuscany. As clouds rolled across the sky late in the day, the sun broke through to illuminate this hill for a brief moment and then it was gone. Fortunately I had been set up in position, waiting and watching the light.

Spending a week in the Val d'Orcia afforded me opportunities to experience a variety of sunrises. The silhouette of these cypress trees seemed an ideal subject against this tequila sunrise.

I chose a square format for this photograph to emphasize the solitary nature of this lone cypress tree.

The sparsely interspersed cypress trees on the ridges in the Crete Senese are great subjects for minimalism - Silhouettes and a little color is all you need.

Walking out into the plowed autumn fields of the Crete Senese at evening time is quite peaceful. A solitary cypress tree expresses the solitude well.
